How many 59 bursts have been "accounted for"? Thread starter morglan Start date Apr 11, Messages 1, The Clapton guitar got me wondering--only a small number of 59 burst LPs were made I've read numbers ranging from a low of about 60 to over , and they're worth a ton, so how many do you think are still in the hands of regular guys?
You would have to imagine there are still some under beds and in closets somewhere Messages Messages 2, I've always suspected that there are more '59s in existance now then were built in ' I know a lot have gone to collectors outside of the US. I'm sure quite a few never survived, and there are sure to be more undiscovered in closets and attics. Shnook Silver Supporting Member. Messages 30, I was lucky enough to run into about 20 of them at a collector's home in Houston a while back. Even got to play them! What a humbling experience. But I have also seen the gap where the book for this period should be—the book in which the factory workers logged details of models shipped and their serial numbers, ordered by date.

So, in the absence of the missing day book, we have to take a couple of guesses. With that in mind, we can remove seven-twelfths of the total, as a crude way to get rid of the production from the earlier seven months or so when this model was still a Goldtop. I need a calculator. Still with me? Five-twelfths of the shipping total of is For , we use the full total: And eleven-twelfths of the total of is Right, plus plus gives us the rough total of sunburst Les Pauls that Gibson made.
He recently has acquired a rare '50's brown top P LP, the sound of which that he compares to a Burst on a short video. Messages 12, I believe he's up to 9. I believe that at least one of them is co-owned. I think often, some of the guitars he occasionally plays on stage are 'loaned' to him for the night. But last I saw on LPF, he owned 9.
